Résumé: This article presents a research project conducted with students from Collège Lionel-Groulx and Cégep de Sherbrooke using a questionnaire on their preferences as to the means used to disseminate information on services and support measures offered by the establishment and the teacher. The answers provided enabled the authors to draw a picture of students who are experiencing learning difficulties and also allowed them, more specifically, to make a detailed evaluation of the 25 means used to disseminate support measures in colleges and universities or found in scientific articles. Students were asked to demonstrate their interest in the various means used and the desired frequency of use. With regard to the means for disseminating technological information, the research clearly shows that, even though they live in a society dominated by new technologies, students do not follow these trends in a systematic manner: they feel it is important to keep an impenetrable barrier between life at school and their personal life. Furthermore, they seem more inclined to call on the support of help centres for studies when directly recommended by a teacher, and they also appreciate a personalized approach, whether through email, comments written on an assignment or a meeting with the teacher.
