Résumé: Although Science occupy an important place in the society, we observe worldwide a lack of interest from the young people for scientific studies. Indeed the proportion of science students in universities has been continuously decreasing for the last 15 years and an increasing gap is observed between the social demand and the scientific expertise. There are several reasons which influence the young people in their choice of College program. Beyond the considerations of personality and beyond the taste, factors related with interest for Science can influence positively or negatively their inscription in a Science college program. To bring to light the most striking factors, we questioned 3000 students of various pre-university programs to sound their interest and their motivation for the sciences and to try to understand what had urged them to join Sciences or not in College. We will present emotional, behavioral and cognitive factors associated to the interest or to the disinterest of students for higher education in sciences. We will consider the influence of the professors, the peers and the family, the feeling of skillness, self-determination and the prejudices which students maintain for Science.
